This project involved redesigning the floors of the public spaces to enable pedestrians to link the Jardins du Peyrou with the busy urban centre of Montpellier. A special way of managing vehicles was devised by modifying their passage along the lateral sides of the Arc de Triomphe to encourage a pedestrian walkway passing beneath it. All of these areas are clad in light-coloured stone, designed to homogenise the colour of the floors and facades of the buildings, so that at night low-intensity lighting can be used to reveal the many architectural details of the buildings aligned with the street.
